Whether you have been formally diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, or you just personally feel anxious a lot of the time, this will be a place for you to share your story, or read those of others who may feel similarly to you. I have dealt with anxiety my entire life. I have been formally diagnosed with three of the five central anxiety disorders: Generalized anxiety disorder, Obsessive Compulsive disorder, and specific phobia. The other two main disorders are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and Panic Disorder. The thing I have found the most difficult over the years is feeling alone. I constantly am told that I am just being weak. That I am faking it and trying to get attention. It hurts more than anything to feel that the thing I am most ashamed of is thought of as fake. As if I enjoy feeling this many conflicting emotions all at once.
If your problems are worse than mine, or far less extreme, or if you just have questions. This is a safe place.
You can leave any questions you have in the ask box (anonymity is possible and privacy is respected)

“She was awkward. She couldn’t get out of her own way. She wasn’t disciplined, and she was often late but there was a sort of magic about her which we all recognized at once… Her phobias, or whatever they were, came later; she seemed just a carefree kid, and she owned the whole world.”

mentalillnessmouse:

Tip #1—The first step in getting help is often the hardest—being willing to admit you have a problem with social phobia or social anxiety. While I knew I had a problem, the very thought of talking about it to a doctor only produced more anxiety and fear of embarrassed and humiliation. If…

forspacegirl:

I’m afraid of sex.

I’m afraid of how much a person can take from you when you offer yourself so completely.

I am afraid of everything there is to lose.

I am more afraid of everything there is to gain. I do not—

will he want me when it is over?

Will my father want me when he comes home early…

Post

My dad went to a Seder last night and a woman had a stroke.
She’s going to die.
She was really young and has a new born baby and a young kid.
I’m so anxious I can barely talk.
I didn’t even know her.
But….all she had was a headache.
That’s so scary.

My best friend just told me that she no longer wants to be friends with me.
My anxiety is “bullshit”
She doesn’t understand why I’m letting it get to me.
I’m choosing to be unhappy
I’m not fun to be around.
Why would she ever want to be friends with someone like that?
